As part of its UK tour, Harry Hill’s Tony Blair inspired musical, Tony! [The Tony Blair Rock Opera] will make a return to London at the Leicester Square Theatre for a limited season from April 15th to May 21st, 2023.
The comedy-musical premiered at Park Theatre earlier this year and charts Tony Blair’s life both pre and post-politics, and how he evolved to eventually become the Labour leader. Well known and political characters that feature in the show include George W. Bush, Princess Diana, John Prescott, and Gordon Brown.
The show’s creators Harry Hill and Steve Brown commented on the new engagement, stating “It’s a show for Tony Lovers and Haters everywhere – and everyone in between – don’t expect a history lesson – in our world Tony’s born singing and dancing, Saddam Hussein is played as Groucho Marx and Gordon Brown occasionally turns into the Incredible Hulk – let’s just say all the facts are there… but not necessarily as they occurred!”.
Peter Rowe will direct the show, with choreography by Francesca Jaynes, set and costume design by Libby Watson, and lighting design by Mark Dymock.
Performances of Tony! [The Tony Blair Rock Opera] will begin at the Leicester Square Theatre from April 15th, 2023. The Leicester Square Theatre is a small and intimate venue conveniently located close to Leicester Square underground station in the heart of London’s theatreland and has a capacity of 406 seats. The theatre has a single level of mostly clear view seating however there are some support pillars situated within the theatre that can slightly restrict the view of some seats in Row P. The best views are located in the centre the seating area of Rows C to H. Most productions that play in the Leicester Square Theatre offer a single price for all seats, however some seats to the sides and at the rear of rows Q-R can be slightly cheaper while still offering relatively good views which will suit for patrons looking for value and cheap Tony!
