The Mousetrap Reaches Landmark Milestone In London
Agatha Christie’s record-breaking thriller The Mousetrap smashed yet another milestone as it celebrated its 30,000th performance in the West End on 19 March, earning a certificate from the Guinness Book of World Records for its record theatrical run in London. The production first opened its doors to the public in the West End in 1952 at the Ambassadors Theatre, before moving into its current home the St Martin's Theatre in 1974.
The tense whodunnit follows a group of strangers, who find themselves snowed in at Monkswell Manor, a remote and isolated countryside guesthouse. A police sergeant arrives and informs the hotel guests of a murder nearby and that they are all now suspects who need to be interviewed to uncover the killer amongst them. But who is it?
Producer Brian Fenty commented on the milestone performance: “As The Mousetrap celebrates its record-shattering 30,000th performance, I’m reminded daily of the timeless genius behind Agatha Christie’s work and her landmark Whodunnit. It’s an honour to carry forward this legacy, proof that remarkable storytelling can unite audiences across generations—and endure for decades to come.”
The cast of the West End production features Richard Leeming as Christopher Wren, Grace Darling as Miss Casewell, Owen Oakeshott as Major Metcalf, Harry Bradley as Giles Ralston, Lara Lemon as Mollie Ralston, Rekha John-Cheriyan as Mrs Boyle, Alasdair Buchan as Mr Paravicini, and Daniel Rainford as Detective Sgt. Trotter, Cathryn Sherman, Ben Riddle, Liv Koplick, Clive Marlowe, and Richard Parnwell.
