Ewan McGregor is back on the London stage for the first time in 17 years at the Wyndham's Theatre to star in My Master Builder, a new play by American screenwriter and playwright Lila Raicek and directed by Michael Grandage.
The production will reunite McGregor and Grandage following their collaborations for the Donmar in Guys and Dolls and Othello - where Grandage was Artistic Director.
Elena Solness, a publishing magnate, is getting ready to throw a party on the eve of July 4th in the Hamptons to celebrate her architect husband, Henry Solness, as he unveils his latest masterpiece. Their already fragile union is shaken up when Mathilde, a former student of Henry’s, with whom he previously shared an intimate connection, arrives unexpectedly. As the evening begins to unfold, they each find themselves facing a reckoning that indelibly alters the axis of their lives.
Taking inspiration from Ibsen, My Master Builder is a startling new play by Lila Raicek that lays bare our exposed vulnerabilities when we open ourselves up to love.
