Following its recent run at the Almeida Theatre, Peter Morgan’s play, Patriots is set to transfer into the West End next year at the Noël Coward Theatre where it will begin previews on May 26th, with an official opening night scheduled for June 6th. Performances of Patriots will run until August 19th, 2023.
The plot of Patriots is set in 1991 as the Soviet Union collapses and follows the fortunes of billionaire businessman Boris Berezovsky as he suddenly finds himself both removed from the president's inner circle and turned into public enemy number one. Patriots is the third play by Peter Morgan to showcase in the West End following successful seasons of both 'Frost/Nixon' and 'The Audience'.
Patriots will see BAFTA winner Tom Hollander reprising the role of Boris Berezovsky alongside Will Keen who will reprise the role of Vladimir Putin and Luke Thallon who will play of Roman Abramovich. Further casting for Patriots will be announced in due course.
Patriots will be directed by Rupert Goold and features sound design by Adam Cork, set design by Miriam Buether, lighting design by Jack Knowles and co-costume design by Buether and Deborah Andrews.
Performances of Patriots will begin at the Noel Coward Theatre from May 26th, 2023. The Noel Coward Theatre is a medium size venue with a capacity of 960 seats . Due to the layout of the theatre, some views of the stage are restricted towards the end of the rows and also in the higher sections of the theatre due to its horseshoe shape.
Premium seats are located in the Stalls section around the centre of rows F-G , although it is worth noting that the surrounding seats in this section also offer clear views and as most seats in the Stalls are priced similarly it can be a good option to sit five or six rows back from the front to get the best experience. The front of the Dress Circle is also a good vantage point and offers panoramic views of the stage.
There are also six boxes in the theatre – 2 on the ground floor in the Stalls and a further 4 in the Dress Circle which provide a very close up and personal experience.
The Upper Circle on the third level are very good value for those on a budget looking to book cheap Patriots tickets as while legroom can be a little tight, it is possible to enjoy the play with clear views of the stage over the safety rail. Other value for money can be found in the back of the Stalls where seats are also discounted on a regular basis.
