Emily Benjamin will star in the new wild Off-West End musical Bronco Billy, which will begin performances at the Charing Cross Theatre in January 2024.
Benjamin is currently appearing in the West End in Cabaret as alternate Sally Bowles and commented on the new appointment in a statement, saying: “I’m so excited to explore this wild world of Bronco Billy - The Musical - a show that says you can be whatever you want to be if that’s a powerful woman, a disco dancer, a poet, a performer, a cowboy - there’s somewhere out there that you can be your true self, no matter what other people tell you.”
Bronco Billy is an award-winning new musical comedy based on the popular Hollywood movie starring Clint Eastwood. The plot follows a group of misfit cowboys in a travelling Wild West show as things take an unexpected turn when the leader of the troupe meets a determined heiress (Benjamin) who is on the run.
The musical features music and lyrics by Chip Rosenbloom and John Torres, with additional lyrics from Michele Brourman, and a book by Dennis Hackin.
Bronco Billy had its world premiere to critical acclaim in Los Angeles at the Skylight Theatre Company on May 18th, 2019.
The production will showcase at the Charing Cross Theatre from January 12th until April 7th, 2024.
Booking & Theatre Info For Bronco Billy
The Charing Cross Theatre is an intimate venue located off Villiers Street, under the arches beneath Charing Cross Railway Station. Most seating in the venue is on one level except for some bench seats in balconies above the stage. The Charing Cross Theatre has a capacity of 265 seats and has employed a traverse layout since 2019 with seating on both sides of the stage. A more traditional proscenium layout is also sometimes used at the venue depending on the production. Views of the stage from any seat in the Stalls are good due to the intimate nature of the theatre however some restrictions do exist from the balcony seats.
Seats in the Stalls are the best option, with the area around Row J being particularly good and offering the best overall view of the action. The high rake in the Stalls ensures that all seats in this section offer great views, and seats at the rear are preferred for a better overall experience, especially for larger productions.
The rear section of the Stalls can also offer better value and be cheaper than the rows at the front, offering an excellent overall view of the stage with rows K-M recommended for good views at a discounted price.
