Cirque du Soleil returns to the Royal Albert Hall in 2023 with the European premiere of its latest offering – Cirque du Soleil KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities which is scheduled to run at the venue from January 13th to February 12th. The new show takes its inspiration from the aesthetics of the Victorian era, and follows a Seeker who believes a hidden, and invisible world exists right under his nose. As he bravely steps into his makeshift world, his life is turned upside down by otherworldly characters through a fusion of humour, poetry, and curiosities.
Incredible acts to look out for in Cirque du Soleil – Kurios include aerial bicycles, a Russian cradle duo, contortions, and human pyramids. Kurios features 46 very talented performers hailing from 16 different countries.
Speaking about the new show and returning to London at the Royal Albert Hall, Kurios writer and director Michel Laprise commented, “Kurios was an absolute joy to create, Inspired by one of the most creative and forward-thinking periods in time, the second half of the 19th century, we created it with inventiveness in mind as a way to celebrate life and bring people together more, with the intention that the audience would reconnect with the optimism and the feeling that everything is possible.”
Cirque du Soleil is the world’s largest contemporary circus producer and showcases circus arts, dance and stunts. The London Cirque du Soleil shows are held annually at the Royal Albert Hall at the beginning of each calendar year.
Jean-François Bouchard and Guy Laliberté provide guidance for Kurios which features sound design by Jean-Michel Caron, composition by Raphaël Beau, set design and props by Stéphane Roy, costume design by Phillipe Guillotel, choreography by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Yaman Okur, Ben Potvin, and Guy Laliberté, and lighting design by Martin Labrecque.
