Seasoned actors who have appeared in West End hit musicals such as The Phantom of the Opera, and Come From Away are getting together to star the world premiere of the musical, Then, Now & Next. Which will begin previews at Southwark Playhouse Borough on June 23rd, ahead of an official opening night on June 28th, and performances due to run until July 29th.
The plot of Then, Now & Next charts two decades and centres around Alex Shaw as she attempts to rebuild her story to ask herself if she will ever be more than just “fine.”
Alice Fearn will play the role of Alex in the new musical, with further casting to be announced in due course.
Show creators, Christopher J Orton and Jon Robyns commented on the new musical stating: “We started work on early drafts of this show together almost ten years ago, and eagerly revisited it in April 2020. It got us both through lockdown with no expectation of the show turning into what it is today. We came out the other side with a piece that speaks to how we all feel now about moving forward and what it means to belong,” Robyns is currently starring as the 'Phantom' in The Phantom of the Opera at the soon to be renamed Her Majesty's Theatre.
Julie Atherton directs Then, Now & Next, with set and costume design by Bob Sterrett, movement by Alexzandra Sarmiento, lighting design by Adam King, and sound design by Raffaela Pancucci.
