Giles Terera and Aaron Pierre to Star in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest in London
Based on Ken Kasey's iconic novel, Dale Wasserman's One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest will be staged at The Old Vic in 2026. Performances will run at the venue from 1 April to 23 May.
The production will feature Aaron Pierre (Mufasa: The Lion King, Rebel Ridge) and Giles Terera (Othello, Hamilton) as Randle P. McMurphy and Dale Harding, respectively, in the powerful story about provocateur and gambler Randle P. McMurphy, who is placed in a psychiatric facility where he disrupts the repressive and restrictive rule of the fearsome Nurse Ratched.
Clint Dyer (Othello, Death of England) will direct the production, which will be part of the final season at the venue for Artistic Director Matthew Warchus.
Dyer commented, saying: "It feels such an honour, and the perfect time to place this wonderful play, based on the counterculture novel by Ken Kesey, back into the discourse. In directing this great play, I hope to hold more closely its original conversation on colonialism and identity from the novel, whilst maintaining its sense of mischief, anarchy, and pathos."
Warchus said, "I’m delighted to be welcoming the brilliant Clint Dyer to be a part of this In The Round Season at The Old Vic. We can’t wait to share his exciting new take on this iconic story."
Full casting will be announced in due course.
