Renée Lamb (SIX) and West End star Zizi Strallen will reprise their roles as Jeanne and Marie Antoinette, in Cake: The Marie Antoinette Playlist when it opens on 13th September at London's The Other Palace for a strictly limited season.
The musical had try-out performances last year at The Lyric Theatre and follows all the scandal and gossip surrounding Marie Antoinette — the last queen consort of France in the build-up to the French Revolution — after she becomes implicated in a crime.
The show has been described as a "brand-new musical, come gig, come ballet", and features an award-winning creative team including writers Tasha Taylor Johnson, Morgan Lloyd Malcolm, and Jack McManus.
Bronagh Lagan directs the production with Christopher Tendai joining the creative team as choreographer, to build on Olivier Award winner Drew McOnie's original show. The wider creative team features lighting design by Joshie Harriette and set and costume design by Sami Fendall.
Speaking of the new appointment, Paul Taylor-Mills, Artistic Director of The Other Palace, commented: “I’m delighted we are bringing CAKE to The Other Palace for a full run, as this brand-new genre-busting musical continues to evolve following on from its try-out last year.
"Completing our 2024 programme of new musicals and developing work, from Cruel Intentions the Musical at the start of the year to Babies currently receiving rave reviews, and Fantastically Great Women Who Changed The World over the summer, the London Premiere of The Lightning Thief, this will literally be the icing on the CAKE!"

The Lyric Theatre is a medium size West End theatre located at the bottom of Shaftesbury Avenue in the heart of London's theatreland and has four levels with a capacity of 1061 seats.
Due to support pillars situated throughout the venue, there are restricted views in certain areas of the auditorium which can result in major viewing obstructions. The rows all curve into a horseshoe shape, which causes the seats at the very end of the rows to suffer from side-angle views of the stage.
Premium seats in the theatre are located in rows F-J in the centre of the Stalls which have the best view overall view of the stage along with seats in the front and centre of the Dress Circle which will suit patrons who prefer to view the stage from an elevated position. Due to the number of pillars and also the shape of the auditorium in the Lyric Theatre, several restricted view seats are regularly sold at a lower cost to suit patrons on a budget or lastminute bargain hunters searching for cheap tickets to Cake: The Marie Antoinette Playlist. Studying the seating plan to exploit the cut-off points within the pricing structure can also bring dividends as the seats all around the premium seats in the Stalls can offer similar views in lower price bands.
Private boxes are also available in the Lyric Theatre which is primarily located down the sides of the Dress Circle which has between two and three seats and contains freestanding chairs allowing patrons to maximize both their view and comfort and are usually priced comparably to seats in the Grand Circle.
