Next year's much anticipated Broadway import, MJ the Musical will bring the unique story of the life of Michael Jackson to the stage when it arrives in the West End next year.
The Tony Award-winning musical will begin performances in London at the Prince Edward Theatre on March 7th, 2024, and centres around the turbulent story behind the making of Jackson's 1992 'Dangerous World' tour, and revisits some of the highlights from throughout the singer's solo career. The musical features a catalogue of his greatest hit songs, including “Beat It,” “Man in the Mirror,” "Thriller,” and “Billie Jean.”
The West End production will feature Myles Frost in the role of the late 'King of Pop' who was the show’s original lead actor. Frost won the 2022 Tony Award for 'Best Leading Actor in a Musical' for his portrayal of Jackson on Broadway, making him the youngest actor to ever win the award individually.
A talented creative team led by Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Lynn Nottage and two-time Tony Award-winning director/choreographer Christopher Wheeldon. Other notable appointments for the production include scenic design by Derek McLane, hair and wig design by Charles LaPointe, sound design by Gareth Owen, lighting design by Natasha Katz, costume design by Paul Tazewell, and projection design by Peter Nigrini. Musical supervision for the musical is by David Holcenberg, and the arrangements and orchestrations are by Jason Michael Webb and David Holcenberg.
Commenting on the West End transfer, Frost said: “Working with Chris has always been amazing, he is a visionary, and knowing that we’re now going into his stomping ground, I’m ready for that ride! I’m super excited to bring this show to the West End and to make this a magical experience for everybody.”
Further casting and information about booking tickets to MJ in London will be announced in due course at a later date.
