The Royal Festival Hall is a 2,700-seat concert, talks, and dance, venue within Southbank Centre in London. In 1981 it became the first post-war building to become a Grade I listed building.
The hall was built by the London County Council as part of the Festival of Britain and was officially opened on 3 May 1951. The Festival Hall was taken over by the Arts Council in 1986 and was managed together with the Purcell Room, Queen Elizabeth Hall, and the Hayward Gallery which eventually became an independent arts organisation, now known as the Southbank Centre, in 1998.
