Located directly under Charing Cross Station, the Charing Cross Theatre is a dark, intimate mini-theatre that has proven to be a perfect launching pad for big West End transfers.
There has been a theatre situated at Charing Cross Station, under the arches since 1864. The venue has been known throughout the years by several different names (The Players Theatre, Gattis-in-The-Arches, and the New Players Theatre), and was rechristened the Charing Cross Theatre in January 2011, marking the change in ownership and the beginning of a new era.
The theatre's Music Hall tradition is still honoured with periodic Sunday performances, however, since 2002 the Charing Cross Theatre mainly operates as a legitimate commercial venue. The current theatre management is committed to presenting affordable, high-quality productions while maintaining a collaborative atmosphere where seasoned professionals can work with and nurture emerging talent.
Give it a try. Who knows – you might just be seeing the next big thing.
