The Tony Award-winning play Stereophonic is set for a transfer to the West End at the Duke Of York's Theatre in May 2025.
In June 2024, David Adjmi's play earned an unprecedented 13 Tony Award nominations, the most for any play ever, winning five awards, including Best Director, Best Play, Best Sound Design, Best Featured Actor, and Best Scenic Design.
Three of the show’s seasoned Broadway cast members will lead the West End production: Andrew R. Butler as Charlie, Eli Gelb as Grover, and Chris Stack as Simon.
Stereophonic is set in a recording studio in California in 1976 and follows both the agony and the ecstasy of a rock band during the creation of their new album. The excessive pressure of stardom could either facilitate their breakup — or their breakthrough into superstardom. Grammy Award winner Will Butler (Arcade Fire) provides original songs for the production.
The creative team behind the production features Daniel Aukin (director), Enver Chakartash (costume designer), David Zinn (scenic designer), Jiyoun Chang (lighting designer), Justin Craig (music director), Ryan Rumery (sound designer), Will Butler and Justin Craig (Orchestrations), and, and Robert Pickens and Katie Gell (hair and wig design).
Full casting will be announced in due course.

The Duke of York’s Theatre is a small West End venue which sits on three levels and has a capacity of 642 seats. Due to the she small size of the auditorium certain seats have slightly restricted views of the stage (depending on the production), so it is recommended to study the seating plan in detail prior to purchase as this can benefit both the price you pay for your ticket and the overall experience within the theatre.
Premium seats in the theatre are located towards the front and centre of the Stalls, around rows E and F. Sitting too close to the stage is not recommended as it sits quite high and you will have to look up throughout the entire play. Seats at the rear are slightly restricted from the overhang from the Royal Circle which should also be noted however this is usually reflected in the price. Seats in the Royal Circle however offer excellent and unrestricted views from an elevated position and are recommended.
Good value can be found in the Row H bench on the third level in the Upper Circle which is ideal for bargain hunters looking to secure last minute theatre tickets or cheap theatre tickets to Stereophonic as despite being situated towards the rear of the theatre, they offer good overall sight-lines and are usually very reasonably priced. The Upper Circle also has some seats with restrictions but offers good value compared to some other seats within the venue.
