Tom Read Wilson and Gareth Gates To Share Role In 'The SpongeBob Musical'

Tom Read Wilson and Gareth Gates are to share the role of 'Squidward' in The SpongeBob Musical when the show opens in London at Queen Elizabeth Hall this summer. The pair will alternate playing SpongeBob SquarePants’s angry neighbour during the month-long run, from July 26th to August 26th.

Gates (Legally Blonde, Les Misérables) has already played this role during the musical's U.K. and Ireland tour. The SpongeBob Musical is inspired by the much-loved Nickelodeon TV programme that shares its name.

Tom Read Wilson is known to UK audiences as the receptionist on the Channel 4 show, Celebs Go Dating. Read Wilson has also starred in several stage productions, including Sleeping Beauty, Alice in Wonderland, and the touring production of Cat in the Hat.

The duo will join previously announced Bikini Bottom villain Sheldon J. Plankton, played by U.K. drag star Divina De Campo, along with Lewis Cornay who will star as SpongeBob, Sarah Freer as Pearl, Rebecca Lisewski as Mayor, Irfan Damani as Patrick, Richard J Hunt as Mr. Krabs, Chrissie Bhima as Sandy, Eloise Davies as Mrs Puff, Hannah Lowther as Karen, Jeremiah Olaleye, Sam Beveridge, Reece Kerridge, Eleanor Turiansky, and Rhys Batten.

After the residents of Bikini Bottom discover that a volcano is about to erupt and destroy their humble homes, they need to act to save their beloved underwater world. SpongeBob and his friends embark on a perilous journey and discover an unlikely hero who may just be their saviour.

Queen Elizabeth Hall is a medium size venue located in the Southbank Centre close to Waterloo Station and has a capacity of 928 seats on two levels.

Premium seats in Queen Elizabeth Hall can be found in the middle section of the Front Stalls from rows C - G which offer excellent unrestricted views of the entire stage allowing you to immerse yourself in the production.
