Three Sisters Tickets - Sam Wanamaker Playhouse

Experience Anton Chekhov's masterful study of family legacy, misdirected love, and the human condition, played out for the very first time in the atmospheric setting of the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse in the world premiere of a new translation of Three Sisters by playwright Rory Mullarkey.

‘Everything’s fine. It is.’

Three Sisters. Their brother, his fiancé. The doctor, the teacher, the old woman, and the soldiers stationed close by. A small town, right in the middle of nowhere.

Their whole world is exploding into flames, a minute at a time. But can they manage to create the change they’re hoping for?

This season Anton Chekhov, one of the most influential writers of his time shares the stage with Shakespeare as we delve into the transformative impact that both writers continue to have on how we feel and think about the world we live in. Caroline Steinbeis returns to the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse to direct this 20th- century classic.

The Sam Wanamaker Playhouse is a small venue located on New Globe Walk, Bankside, close to Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, and has a capacity of 353 seats.

The theatre is a compact venue and features three levels of seating, the Pit, the Lower Gallery, and the Upper Gallery. Another smaller gallery sits just behind the stage which is occasionally also on sale and the two rows at the back of the Upper Gallery are used as standing spaces. Each section of the theatre comprises benched seating which is arranged on three sides of the stage. Pillars are present both in front of and to the side of some seats in both Galleries which restricts the view of the stage. Patrons suffering from vertigo should be aware that the Upper Gallery is steep offering sharp downward views of the stage but due to the intimate nature of the venue, it is unlikely you will feel disconnected from the action on stage.

The best views of the action at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse are found in the Pit, facing directly at the stage, and as actors often enter and exit down the aisles, these are considered to be the best seats in the venue.

Value for money can be found in the Upper Gallery which has cheap seats which are used as standing spaces. This section is not suitable for anyone under 4ft in height and patrons may also need to lean slightly forward at times. Good value seating is located at the rear of the Lower Gallery where you can also benefit from being able to lean back on the wall behind.
