The Wanderers Tickets - London
Abe is a celebrated writer harbouring a restless spirit and an open disdain for all religions—including his own. His wife, Sophie, is a fellow writer who is half Jewish and half Black. After her first book was overlooked, she has been suffering from a crisis of confidence and doubts that she has another book in her — Abe also has his doubts. Although their marriage is rooted in love, there is also a degree of tension, unresolved discontent, and quiet rivalry.
An unexpected email arrives from a movie star that sets Abe on a flirtatious, increasingly risky path, as what began as simple curiosity spirals uncontrollably into something deeper—the unravelling of long-buried truths, threatening his sense of self, his marriage, and the secure life he thought he built.
40 years earlier, shy young Orthodox Jews Esther and Schmuli entered an arranged marriage after meeting only once. After some time, Esther became suffocated by the strict nature of her ultra-religious world. Summoning quiet courage, she escapes—with her third child—and starts a new, uncertain life.
As these two narratives intertwine at the Marylebone Theatre, The Wanderers tells a tale of connection, longing, and the threads that bind us through generations. Is it possible to ever truly escape the inheritance of our past?
