Strike the colours, hoist the main sail, and batten down the hatches. The Pirates Of Penzance are back in town at the London Coliseum. ENO’s smash-hit production of the swashbuckling Gilbert & Sullivan farce returns – and is set to once again get the audiences' toes-tapping.
A pirate apprentice attempts to woo the daughter of the Major General, as his bungling buccaneer-shipmates try their best to outwit an equally inept party of policemen.
The vibrant staging highlights the sunshine in the story. With its well-loved songs, wild wordplay, and splendidly silly storyline, this is an irresistibly feel-good production from Mike Leigh.
