Mozart’s comic opera, The Marriage Of Figaro is a whirlwind of twists and turns, and mistaken identities, all taking place on a single crazy day – the wedding day of Susanna and Figaro.
As Count Almaviva, their philandering master, is determined to have his wicked way and bed Susanna before she is wed, Figaro and Susanna attempt to outwit him by conspiring with the rejected Countess. General mayhem ensues, finishing with the Count receiving a lesson in marital fidelity he will never forget.
Mozart’s psychologically complex tale portrays the women as shrewder, wiser, and more civilised than the men from the very first notes of the bustling Overture
