Mad to talk, mad to live, mad to be saved…
18-year-old Samantha Brown is sitting in a hand-me-down car clutching her keys. Caught between feeling bound by expectation and longing for the unknown, she reverts to a time before her world had crumbled. As Samantha relives her senior year, we meet her high school sweetheart, Adam, and her well-intentioned mother, Bev, but it is Kelly, her painfully alive best friend, who haunts her. Kelly was everything that Sam is not—daring and impetuous. She pushed Sam to break rules and to do the unexpected.
When Kelly is tragically killed in a car accident, Sam loses not just her best friend but also the small hidden part of herself that was yearning to be brave and take chances. Now, Sam has a decision to make: Will she follow her mother’s preferred path, or will she summon up the strength to drive away from her family and friends into an exciting future she can’t even imagine?
