The Last Word is a powerful multimedia performance based on the last words of women in Russian courts accused of political crimes. Performed by acclaimed actor Alisa Khazanova, and directed by award-winning director Maxim Didenko.
These searing, outspoken courtroom messages form one of the last surviving bastions of free speech still possible in contemporary Russia and bring together the last words of court defendants such as Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina of Russian Punk group "Pussy Riot", Zarifa Sautieva, Alla Gutnikova, Sasha Skochilenko, and others, shining a light on their raw courage and to paint a devastating and timely picture of Russia’s current political regime.
The Last Word sees the talented creative team from last year's five-star, Offie Award-winning production of The White Factory reunite at the Marylebone Theatre in London, of whom many are acclaimed artists and leading cultural figures who have fled from Russia following Putin's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
