The Fabulist Tickets - Charing Cross Theatre

Taking its name from the term many top-tier magicians use to describe themselves --THE FABULIST is a new romantic musical comedy with an operatic twist at the Charing Cross Theatre, set in 1929 in a movie studio in Tuscany. Agrofontido is a wandering fabulist who is smitten and seeks the hand of the eccentric screenwriter Clarice.

Unfortunately, the characters discover that romances on set can quickly get complicated. Featuring a book and lyrics by James Farwell who takes inspiration from Antonio Paisiello's opera, THE IMAGINARY ASTROLOGER which was written for, and became Catherine the Great's favorite opera.

Taking influence from Rossini but with a slightly lighter tone, Paisiello's uplifting and joyous style led to him becoming the favourite composer of both Catherine the Great and Napoleon, for whom he composed the coronation music.

The Charing Cross Theatre is an intimate venue located off Villiers Street, under the arches beneath Charing Cross Railway Station. Most seating in the venue is on one level except for some bench seats in balconies above the stage. The Charing Cross Theatre has a capacity of 265 seats and has employed a traverse layout since 2019 with seating on both sides of the stage. A more traditional proscenium layout is also sometimes used at the venue depending on the production. Views of the stage from any seat in the Stalls are good due to the intimate nature of the theatre however some restrictions do exist from the balcony seats.

Seats in the Stalls are the best option, with the area around Row J being particularly good and offering the best overall view of the action. The high rake in the Stalls ensures that all seats in this section offer great views, and seats at the rear are preferred for a better overall experience, especially for larger productions.

The rear section of the Stalls can also offer better value and be cheaper than the rows at the front, offering an excellent overall view of the stage with rows K-M recommended for good views at a discounted price.
