Springwood Tickets - London

It's 1939, and the fate of nations is hanging in the balance. A weekend retreat at a country house becomes King George VI’s opportunity to convince U.S. President Roosevelt to support his country in the impending conflict looming over the horizon. The outcome seemingly depends on whether he and his wife can successfully navigate their way through a public picnic with the dignity and decorum expected of royalty.

In what is the very first visit of a British monarch to the United States, can a "special relationship" be forged and survive a menu of beer and hot dogs?

As the President of the USA and First Lady play host to the King and Queen of England under the microscope in this richly observed clash of cultures, the grim precipice of a World War is never far away. With everything to play for in a house full of very thin walls, secrets, fears, indiscretions, and self-doubts, the indiscretions and fears of two world leaders and their wives begin to spill out.

Richard Nelson directs Springwood at the Hampstead Theatre from Tony and Olivier Award-winning playwright Richard Nelson. This poignant and witty new play highlights a critical and pivotal meeting in history where the personal and political entwine.

Springwood plays at the Hampstead Theatre in London. The theatre is home to new writing and has hosted many ground-breaking productions, before their transfer to the West End. The intimate and cosy theatre has a capacity of 325

The venue opened back in 1959 as a Scout Hall which has been converted into the purpose-built Hampstead Theatre featuring two performance spaces.

The venue attracts some of the world’s greatest acting talent including Jude Law, Tamsin Greig, John Malkovich, and Felicity Kendal, who have all appeared there.

The Hampstead Theatre is a modern venue with good facilities, decent viewing angles, and good sound. Some Dress Circle seats are a little cramped and lacking in legroom, and width. Some seats in this section feature slight restrictions due to support pillars, so studying the seating plan before booking is recommended.

This production is suitable for patrons aged 14+.
