Semele Tickets - Royal Opera House

Semele Tickets - London

After being placed into his luxurious home as Jupiter’s lover, former servant girl Semele can’t believe her good fortune. Juno, Jupiter’s wife, however, concocts a devious plan for revenge that threatens to bring ruin to her husband’s pretty young lover.

This fresh and bold production of Semele - Handel’s English-language masterpiece returns to London at the Royal Opera House, following a sell-out season in Paris, directed by Oliver Mears.

The much-anticipated latest installment of Handel in Covent Garden series is strange, uncanny, and darkly satirical. Pretty Yende stars as Semele, alongside Ben Bliss, making his Royal Opera debut as Jupiter, Carlo Vistoli, Brindley Sherratt, and Alice Coote also star, conducted by Christian Curnyn.

Where Should I Book Tickets In The Royal Opera House?

Semele plays at the Royal Opera House.  The large London theatre has five different levels of seating. Premium seats are in the orchestra stalls on the ground floor, and stalls circle one level up. Both areas offer clear views of the action.  Moving further up, there is the grand tier, the balcony, and the amphitheatre. This area is high on the fifth level and possibly not ideal for those uncomfortable with heights or suffering from vertigo.

Should I Avoid Booking Tickets At The Royal Opera House With A Restricted View?

The elevated sections of the theatre are designed in a horseshoe shape that can feel a little bit distant from the stage but generally have clear views.  When booking tickets in the slips, on either side, or boxes, it is advisable to check the seating plan before purchase as these seats feature side-on restrictions that could affect your enjoyment of the production.
