Seagull: True Story Tickets - Marylebone Theatre

Seagull: True Story Tickets - London

After the long shadow of censorship is cast over Kon’s free-spirited reimagining of Chekhov’s masterpiece due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, his production becomes stripped down into a state-approved shell of its former self.

In a desperate bid to save his livelihood and vision, Kon flees to New York. Torn between a confounding American paradise and his Russian heritage, he attempts to redefine himself as an artist, but soon discovers that to regain his true freedom, it will take more than just moving a few thousand miles…

Seagull: True Story is inspired by true events. The bold, playful theatrical experience transfers to London at the Marylebone Theatre following a hugely successful season Off-Broadway at La Mama.

A powerful tale of love and betrayal from acclaimed Russian director Alexander Molochnikov that highlights the struggle to make meaningful art in a world where the version of truth depends on who’s in power.
