Oliver! Tickets - Gielgud Theatre

Oliver! Tickets - London

Oliver! Lionel Bart’s iconic, much-loved musical is back on the London stage at the Gielgud Theatre in a Cameron Mackintosh production, reconceived with director and choreographer Matthew Bourne. The Tony, Olivier, and Oscar-winning musical brings Dickens’ ever-popular story of the orphan boy who asked for more vividly to life.

The London production of Oliver! is based on the classic 1838 Charles Dickens novel, Oliver Twist, and is the tale of a young orphan searching for a family and a home. Life isn't easy on the streets of London, and before long, Oliver is recruited into a gang of child pickpockets. The musical examines the 19th-century London underworld through a child's perspective, exploring themes of friendship, poverty, crime, and good vs. evil.

Oliver! features a sensational, iconic score that includes 'Consider Yourself,' 'I’d Do Anything,' 'You’ve Got to Pick-a-Pocket or Two,' 'Oom Pah Pah,' 'Food Glorious Food,' 'As Long As He Needs Me,' and many more.

The Gielgud Theatre is a medium size West End theatre that has three levels of seating with a capacity of 974 seats.

Premium seats in the theatre are located towards the middle of the Stalls section, just below the overhang from the Dress Circle. Patrons sitting up close to the front of the Stalls may miss some of the action at the rear of the stage, due to the height of the stage so aim to sit in rows N-P for the best overall experience.

The Gielgud Theatre also has three boxes at the rear of the Dress Circle enabling you to watch the production with added privacy, all of which boast a dedicated private entrance and quick access to the toilets and the bar in the interval.

The elevated sections of the theatre offer good value for those on a budget looking for lastminute shows or cheap tickets to Oliver!, however, due to the shape of the Dress Circle, a number of these seats have a slightly restricted view of the stage, in particular towards the end of rows A and B which face the stage at an angle. There is also good value to be found in the Grand Circle but as always it is recommended to study the seating plan in detail before purchase as there are also some restrictions in this section due to the curve in the seating.

All patrons must have their own ticket. Children under 16 must be accompanied by and sat next to a ticketholder who is 18+. Under 3s will not be admitted to the theatre.

How Can I Book Cheap Tickets To Oliver?

The price of theatre tickets is fuelled by demand, and it can be difficult to source well-priced tickets for popular - and new - productions.  For last-minute bargain hunters looking for cheap ticket options, midweek matinees can provide value as understudies often perform - which may reduce the ticket price. If you are more interested in the production than the cast, this should be looked at.

Are Upper Circle Tickets To Oliver! Good Value?

New seats have been installed in the upper circle of the Gielgud Theatre, offering better legroom, and despite being quite high up, there are very few seats in this section that feature restrictions to the view.  For patrons searching for value booking tickets in the upper circle, row F offers unobstructed views and has the benefit of a corridor walkway directly in front for added legroom.  Seats in the centre, and at the front of the upper circle also have a good vantage point and should not be dismissed.

Should I Avoid Tickets To Oliver! That Have A Restricted View?

The Gielgud Theatre has three different levels of seating. The stalls, the dress circle, and the upper circle.  Although few seats in the theatre feature restrictions, there are minor issues caused by the overhang in the stalls from row R, that can affect the top of the stage.  The severity of any restriction to the view should be reflected in the price, so check the seating plan thoroughly before booking tickets.   The dress circle is only slightly raked which can cause issues for shorter patrons.
