The Duchess Theatre is a small West End theatre that has two levels of seating and a capacity of 503 seats. The Dress Circle on the first floor is much narrower than the Stalls down below with both sections offering a selection of views that fall into different price bands and can be exploited to maximise value to keep prices down.

The best seats in the theatre are located in the central Stalls where the raking begins and before the overhang starts from the Circle, with seats on each side towards the ends of the rows giving side-angles of the stage. Alternatively, the seats at the front of the Dress Circle, in the centre of the row offer a perfect vantage point to view the action on stage.

The Duchess Theatre also has several box seats located in the Dress Circle which can seat between two and four patrons and are ideal for those looking for a more private and spacious experience. Each box is accessed via a private entrance and features moveable chairs allowing you to maximise your legroom and comfort. Some restrictions to the view of the stage do feature from some of the box areas.

Due to the small and intimate nature of the venue, there is good value to be found in the cheapest seats which are located in the back rows of the Circle which are not particularly restricted and extremely well priced to suit those on a budget looking for cheap tickets to Murder, She Didn't Write. Bargain hunters looking for lastminute shows can also get value from seats located at the end of rows in the Stalls which are also often discounted although these seats do feature slight restrictions to the view of the stage but can still be considered as good value.

Where Are The Best Tickets Located In The Theatre?

The Duchess Theatre is one of the smallest and most intimate venues in the West End and thankfully there is very little restricted view seating so if you must have tickets with a completely clear view of the stage you are in luck! If you are searching for the best seats in the stalls then the central aisle seats in row J are particularly good. The front row of the dress circle is also well worth looking at, and for people who need a lot of legroom row D of the dress circle is ideal and can often be good value.

Is It Easy To Find Cheap Tickets?

There is value to be found for bargain hunters looking to secure good deals for tickets for both evening and matinee midweek performances during off-peak periods. The show does get busy at the weekends and during school holidays though so try to avoid these if looking to save money on the ticket price if possible.

Are There Any Tickets That Should Be Avoided?

The seats at the back of the stalls on the sides in rows L, M, N & O do feature a slight restriction to the view for some scenes in the show and should possibly be avoided if possible. It is advisable to always study the seating plan before purchase as although this is a very small theatre, there are still quite a few different price bands that can make certain tickets very good value (and vice versa!)

Is It Best To Book Tickets In The Stalls Or The Dress Circle?

Both sections of the theatre have their own merits and it is generally a matter of personal preference whether it is preferable to sit in the stalls looking directly at the stage or in the dress circle looking down at the stage from an elevated position. There does seem to be regular value found in the rear seats of the dress circle though if you are on a budget, which coupled with the small size of the venue can make these tickets a real bargain as they can sometimes sell for as little as £20 during quiet weeks!
