What is God to do against the stupidity of men?
Tony award-nominee J. Smith-Cameron stars at the Gielgud Theatre as Juno Boyle opposite Mark Rylance as ‘Captain’ Jack Boyle in a highly anticipated new production of Seán O’Casey's timeless masterpiece, JUNO AND THE PAYCOCK, directed by Olivier and Tony award-winner Matthew Warchus.
It's 1922 in Dublin, and the Irish Civil War is tearing the country apart. Inside the bubbling cauldron of the family’s tiny tenement flat, Juno Boyle, a beleaguered matriarch uses sharp wit as a survival tool in her struggle to keep the family together and make ends meet. Her husband, ‘Captain’ Jack Boyle, still fancies himself a ship's commander but no longer sails further than the local pub. When providence comes calling with exciting news of a great inheritance, could the family’s troubles finally be about to fade away?
