It’s a Friday night, and for the first time in years, Franky is back at her local pub. As the pints are poured, the sound of Motown music drifts from the tinny speakers. Karaoke starts at eight. It’s all so reassuringly familiar. Just like nothing has changed.
But, haunted by their grief, Franky’s family is quietly unravelling all around her.
Her father hides himself away, and long-buried family secrets are starting to leak through cracks in every room.
Heart Wall is a bittersweet and tender exploration of the long tail of grief and the fickleness of memory, that questions where we go when the walls begin to close in, and home has become somewhere you don’t recognise.
