Gerry & Sewell Tickets - London
Two lads. No money. One single mission: to get season tickets for the upcoming season for the Premier League. Just how hard can it be?
Jonathan Tulloch’s novel The Season Ticket, which subsequently became the cult movie Purely Belter, is adapted for the stage by Olivier Award-winner Jamie Eastlake and now comes to the West End for a limited run at the Aldwych Theatre following sell-out performances in the North East.
Gerry and Sewell both live in Gateshead. They’ve pretty much got nothing — except a dream. The acquisition of a season ticket to their beloved football club. But following experiencing years of austerity and watching their team being sold off on the cheap by a self-serving southern businessman more interested in merch than matches, life has been tough. Until they make their decision to get those season tickets, no matter what it takes? And once they’ve agreed on their mission, nothing on earth is going to stop them — except possibly a couple of dodgy dealers, the social, and the occasional run-in with the local scrap merchant.
Original cast members Dean Logan, Jack Robertson, and Becky Clayburn star as Gerry, Sewell, and Tyneside, alongside Erin Mullen in the role of Bridget.
Gerry & Sewell is a glorious fusion of live music, puppet dogs, and the colourful magic of Wor Flags (including the odd surprise cameo) into a funny, wild, and heartfelt working-class tribute to black-and-white dreams.
For the Toon. And for anyone who has ever chased something that really matters.
