Following its record-breaking season at the Jermyn Street Theatre in 2023, where it became the best-selling show in the history of the venue, FARM HALL now transfers to the Theatre Royal Haymarket to bring an extraordinary true story to life in the West End.
Summer 1945: Hitler is dead, but the war in the Pacific continues to rage on. The Allies have six of Germany’s most gifted nuclear scientists – including three Nobel Prize winners - detained at Farm Hall, a lavish stately home situated just outside Cambridge.
While detained there, they entertain themselves by reading redacted newspapers. For their further amusement, there is also a broken piano and a copy of Blithe Spirit by Noël Coward, but their tranquil summer comes to a shuddering halt by the news that the Americans have succeeded where the Germans failed by not only building an atomic bomb but detonating one against Japan.
During their stay, and unbeknownst to the scientists, every inch of Farm Hall has been bugged and their every comment and reaction recorded. This thrilling production is inspired by true events that occurred at Farm Hall between July 1945 and January 1946.
The stellar cast includes David Yelland, who plays the role of Max Von Laue; and Alan Cox who plays the role of Werner Heisenberg. Daniel Boyd; who plays the part of Carl Friedrich von Weizsacker; Forbes Masson who plays the role of Otto Hahn; Julius D’Silva who plays the role of Kurt Diebner and Archie Backhouse appears as Erich Bagge.
