Fanny Tickets - London
Meet Fanny Mendelssohn. You are possibly familiar with her younger brother Felix, from the 19th-century smash hit tunes like 'The Wedding March'. Felix was the massive musical phenomenon of his time - so much so - that Queen Victoria requested a personal concert and was even known to sing 'Italien' - her favourite of his compositions. The thing is - Felix didn’t write it! The famous piece of music was written by Fanny, and then quietly published using her brother's name.
So - after Fanny intercepts a letter to Felix, inviting him to travel to London to premiere a new orchestral work in the presence of the Queen, Fanny hides the letter, travels to England, and takes her rightful place at the palace…!
Fanny is an irreverent and joyful comedy at the King's Head Theatre that celebrates music, family, and – finally – the work of a composer shamefully overlooked because of her sex.
