Artistic Director, Rachel O’Riordan directs Faith Healer, Brian Friel’s “masterpiece” (The Guardian) at the Lyric Hammersmith in 2024.
Trawling through the lonely and remote villages of Ireland, Scotland, and Wales is The Fantastic Frank Hardy, who promises, for one night only, miracle cures for the suffering and the sick. He may just prove to be more showman than shaman, however… the promise to deliver the impossible is irresistible.
But it’s Frank’s proclamations and ability to shapeshift that brings him into conflict with his manager Teddy, and his wife Grace. As each of them recounts their lives together, a well of fractured memories is unveiled.
Brian Friel’s play Faith Healer has a strong stage mystery and a spellbinding allure and has thrilled audiences all over the world since its premiere on Broadway in 1979.
