Elephant Tickets - Menier Chocolate Factory

Elephant Tickets - London

After a successful season at the Bush Theatre, Elephant will showcase for a 6-week London season at the Menier Chocolate Factory, reuniting writer and performer Anoushka Lucas with original director Jess Edwards.

Lylah couldn’t ask questions at school – she just had to be good, good, good, or she’d lose her hard-earned scholarship. She couldn’t ask questions at home either; her cousins said she talked funny, and her parents were always busy and distracted. Then, one day, a piano came through the sky, landing in Lylah’s council flat just for her. As Lylah poured over the pristine black and white keys, with sound flowing into all the rooms, Lylah fell in love.

Now an adult, Lylah is caught up in the buzzing excitement of a promising music career and a new romance. But something just doesn’t feel right. She turns to her piano searching for answers. Why are you here? Where did you come from? The unspoken truth of their shared history overflows and spills into the light.

Elephant plays at the Menier Chocolate Factory in London. The small, intimate, off-West End venue is located on Southwark Street and has one level with a capacity of 180 seats.

The bench seating within the venue can feel a little cramped when the auditorium is full but benefits from a good raking, which offers good views of the stage. The ‘stage’ itself is on floor level, and relatively small, offering an intimate and immersive theatrical experience. There is not much difference in the price of seats due to single-level seating and its small size. The seats in the centre are usually slightly more expensive though.

The Menier Chocolate Factory also has several rehearsal rooms, a cosy restaurant, and a welcoming bar decorated with posters from previous shows, and surprisingly affordable.

This production is recommended for patrons aged 14+.

Relaxed & Sensory Adapted Performance Friday 21st October at 7:30pm. Captioned Performance Thursday 26th October at 7:30pm. Audio Described Performance Saturday 28th October at 7:30pm. Touch Tour Saturday 28th October at 6:30pm.
