Logos is an artificial intelligence programme so sophisticated, it is on the verge of consciousness. Should it escape its confines, it could pose a grave threat to all humanity. Following a security breach, in a race against time, two coders are interrogated to find out exactly who has done what and why.
East Is South is a tense thriller from Beau Willimon at the Hampstead Theatre that delves headlong into the key questions that the fast advancing technology demands we confront: What does being human mean? And what will our place be in a world where we are no longer its most evolved beings?
Willimon's previous work includes House of Cards for Netflix, along with plays, including Breathing Time, Spirit Control, Lower Ninth, The Parisian Woman, and Farragut North (which was adapted into the Hollywood movie The Ides of March).
Ellen McDougall directs the production, making her Hampstead debut having recently directed Watch on the Rhine (Donmar), The Wolves (Stratford East) and Our Town (Regent’s Park).
