Blink Tickets - London
A story about seeing and being seen. About watching and, in turn, being watched. And about love.
Sophie has recently lost one of her parents. Jonah has too. Sophie has subsequently inherited a fair amount of money. Just like Jonah. Following an uncanny series of coincidences, the pair find themselves living in two small flats in Leytonstone on top of one another. On a whim, Sophie sends Jonah a baby monitor that connects to her flat. He begins to watch her. Reading books. Eating. Playing video games. Watching Television. Without ever meeting face to face, something that feels almost like love begins to blossom between them.
Blink is a bittersweet rom-com for the digital age at the King's Head Theatre. Originally commissioned by Soho Theatre. A decade after its original run, and now in a real-life world of doorbell cams, vlogging, livestreams, and online stalking, Porter’s play takes on a whole new meaning. When every move we make is recorded and broadcast online, what does it actually mean for someone to see you?
