Mary Bridget Davies stars as Janis Joplin in this multi-award-winning show at the Peacock Theatre. Direct from Broadway, this extraordinary musical journey pays homage to Janis and her musical influences.
In 1967, Janis Joplin exploded onto the international music scene, like a comet burning far too brightly to last, and became the queen of rock & roll. Her unmistakable voice, filled with raw emotion and tinged with a dash of Southern Comfort, made her a must-see headline act from Monterey to Woodstock.
Featuring her back catalogue of unforgettable songs including “Mercedes Benz”, “Me and Bobby McGee,” “Cry Baby”, “Piece of My Heart”, and “Summertime”, and a remarkable cast, A Night with Janis Joplin, is written and directed by Randy Johnson. This musical journey celebrates Janis and all of her biggest musical influences, such as Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin, Odetta, Etta James, and Bessie Smith.
A Night with Janis Joplin was launched in 2011 and toured successfully for 2 years, breaking box office records. In October 2013, the production opened to rave reviews on Broadway and had a successful run in Japan in 2022.
