After local radio producer Marcia Jeffries interviews a drunk drifter known as “Lonesome Rhodes” in his jail cell, she notices his potential straight away and offers him a slot on her show. But as Lonesome's popularity grows and his fans become more clamorous, the politicians begin to take notice, and Marcia realises she can no longer control the force she has unleashed.
Young Vic Artistic Director Kwame Kwei-Armah directs the world premiere of Sarah Ruhl’s adaptation of the Hollywood classic A Face In The Crowd which highlights the danger of elevating celebrities into positions of unchecked power.
