After a successful season in Edinburgh, Wildcard Theatre’s production of Ruckus is to transfer to London at the Southwark Playhouse for a limited season from from 5th to 29th October.
The plot of Ruckus follows the fortunes of 28-year-old primary school teacher Lou, who constantly breaks through the fourth wall during the performance. Throughout Ruckus, Lou invites the audience to view key moments from her relationship and embark on an emotional journey ranging from freedom to being trapped.
The story of Ruckus uses reports from the charity, 'SafeLives', along with work from journalists, sociologists and researchers tackling the issue of domestic abuse.
Jenna Fincken both writes and stars in Ruckus. Press releases describing the play stated that Ruckus “raises questions about women’s vulnerabilities to psychologically violent relationships within today’s patriarchal society,” as well as delving into and exploring systems of power.
Ruckus is directed by Georgia Green and features sound design by Tingying Dong, lighting design by Simeon Miller, and movement direction by Christina Fulcher.
Performances of Ruckus will begin at Southwark Playhouse from October 5th, 2023.
