Rachel Ziegler To Make UK Stage Debut In Evita In London
Golden Globe-winning actress Rachel Zegler will make her UK stage debut at the London Palladium in Jamie Lloyd's revival of Evita this summer. Performances of the classic West End musical will begin on 14 June, and run until 6 September 2025.
Zegler made her debut on Broadway in Romeo and Juliet alongside Heartstopper actor Kit Connor last year and stars in the live-action new version of Disney's Snow White, which will go on general release in UK cinemas later this month.
Taking on the coveted lead role of Eva Perón, Zegler said: “Evita has been such an important musical to me since I was a little girl when my dad and I would sing ‘Don’t Cry for Me Argentina’ together on my back patio. The opportunity to bring Jamie Lloyd’s singular, visionary ideas to life onstage is an honour unlike any other. The stage has always felt like home to me, and I can’t wait to make my West End debut in such great company.”
Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's legendary musical about the life of Argentine political leader, activist, and actress Eva Perón will be directed by Lloyd, who previously directed an award-winning outdoor version of the musical at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in 2019. This latest production is described as “an evolution” of that show.
Lloyd also commented on Zegler's appointment, saying: “I am so excited to be collaborating with the brilliant Rachel Zegler on Evita. She is a phenomenal talent, and I am delighted she will be making her West End debut as the iconic Eva Perón.”
