John Dagleish To Star As Benjamin Button At Ambassadors Theatre

Latest West End News

Olivier Award-winning actor John Dagleish will take on the title role in the forthcoming production of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which will open in the West End at the Ambassadors Theatre on October 10th.

Dagleish, who won the Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical for his role as Ray Davies in the musical Sunny Afternoon, and also starred in the live-action adaption of The Little Mermaid, will be joined in the production by Oonagh Cox, Philippa Hogg, Matthew Burns, Damien James, Benedict Salter, Jonathan Charles, Anna Fordham, Ann Marcuson, and Jack Quarton, who all reprise their roles from the 2023 season at Southwark Playhouse. Also joining the ensemble will be Elliot Mackenzie.

Darren Clark and Jethro Compton's musical is based on the 1922 short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald, which was later made into a movie starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett. The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button tells the story of a man who is born elderly and ages through life in reverse.

The musical is designed and directed by Compton, with co-music supervision, arrangements, and orchestration by Mark Aspinall and Clark, choreography by Chi-San Howard, associate stage design and costumes by Anna Kelsey, sound by Luke Swaffield, musical direction by Aspinall and lighting by Zoe Spurr.

Further casting will be announced in due course.

The Ambassadors Theatre is a small West End venue with a capacity of 410 seats on two levels. Premium seats in the theatre are located in the front two rows of the Circle, and the centre of the Stalls with great views between seats 6-12 in rows D-G.

Due to the intimacy of the venue, bargain hunters for lastminute tickets can get great value from the back row of the Circle which offers a great view of the stage. The overhang from the Circle does encroach on the rear seats in the Stalls, meaning the back rows do have a slightly restricted view which should reflect in the price of the ticket.

Patrons on a budget can find good value for The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button tickets in the last four rows of the Circle from H to L which are often discounted but still offer a great view of the stage and have good legroom.
