Nicola Roberts To Star In Hadestown In West End
Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts is set to make her West End return after more than 5 years, as it has been revealed she will play the role of Persephone in Hadestown. She will appear in the production at the Lyric Theatre from 16 September until 18 January 2026.
Roberts, who first rose to fame in 2002 as part of the BRIT Award-winning pop group Girls Aloud, made her West End debut at the Garrick Theatre back in 2020 in Josie Rourke’s revival of City of Angels.
Speaking about her latest casting in Hadestown, Roberts said: "I am beyond thrilled to be joining the cast of Hadestown in London. This show is a true masterpiece, and I am honoured to be a part of such a talented and inspiring team. The role of Persephone has such depth and complexity that she feels light and sorrow, joy and darkness. Her songs are rich with emotion and an absolute joy to sing, and I’m excited to explore every facet of her character on stage.
"I am grateful for this incredible opportunity, and I can't wait to share this journey with audiences in London. Let's take a trip to the underworld together!"
Roberts teams up with cast members Chris Jarman as Hades, Desmonda Cathabel as Eurydice, Dylan Wood as Orpheus, and Cedric Neal as Hermes.
Other key personnel members include Allie Daniel, Lauran Rae and Melanie Bright as the Fates; Ollie Bingham, Michelle Andrews, Laura Delany, Femi Akinfolarin, and Sebastian Lim-Seet as the Workers, and Juan Jackson, Lucinda Buckley, Jasmine Triadi, Lindo Shinda, and Oisín Nolan-Power as the Swings.
Hadestown is a genre-defying musical from Anaïs Mitchell. The story revives the ancient Greek myth of Eurydice and Orpheus and entwines their love story with that of King Hades and Persephone.
