Fleur East To Star As Tina Turner In West End Debut
Fleur East is to join the cast of Tina — The Tina Turner Musical this summer. The recording artist will share the lead role in the show with current star Karis Anderson. The musical has also extended its run at the Aldwych Theatre with performances now continuing until January 10th, 2026.
East, who rose to fame on the talent show The X Factor in 2014 and has since performed on Strictly Come Dancing, will appear in the production from 24th June to 13th September 2025.
Tina — The Tina Turner Musical tells the true-life comeback story of the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll and has been showcased in the West End for over seven years. The show includes Tina Turner's biggest hits, such as "Proud Mary", "River Deep, Mountain High", "We Don't Need Another Hero (Thunderdome)", "What's Love Got To Do With It," and "Simply The Best."
Producer Tali Pelman said of the appointment: “I am a huge admirer of Fleur, who has always struck me as an extraordinary woman; an exceptional talent who, like Tina Turner, will not allow herself to be defined by others. Fleur’s generosity, optimism, kindness, and determination are all qualities that are truly Tina. She is a natural, and we are thrilled she has decided to make her stage debut in our musical. I am tremendously excited that our journey together has begun!”
Tina - The Tina Turner Musical was written by Pulitzer Prize-winner Katori Hall, with Kees Prins, and Frank Ketelaar, directed by Phyllida Lloyd, and choreographed by Anthony van Laast. The wider creative team features sound by Nevin Steinberg, set and costume designs by Mark Thompson, lighting by Bruno Poet, orchestrations by Ethan Popp, musical supervision by Nicholas Skilbeck, projection design by Jeff Sugg, hair and makeup design by Campbell Young Associates, wigs, and fight direction by Kate Waters.
The full cast for 2025/26 is yet to be announced.
