John Cleese’s stage version of his classic sitcom Fawlty Towers – The Play is to make a swift return to the Apollo Theatre in the West End for a limited three-month season this summer.
The play about the antics of a chaotic Torquay hotelier will run from 24th June – 13th September, before embarking on a tour of the UK and Ireland until 2026.
The play, which opened in May 2024 and is due to finish its current West End run on March 1st is based on Cleese's 1970s comedy TV series, co-written with Connie Booth. Cleese took three classic episodes and adapted them for the stage: "The Germans" and "The Hotel Inspector" from the first series, and "Communication Problems" from series two.
Commenting on the additional West End season, John Cleese said: “I’m delighted to announce the news that the Fawlty Towers stage show will be returning to the Apollo Theatre this June. It’s heart-warming that West End audiences still think Fawlty is as funny as ever".
Fawlty Towers - The Play features many of the beloved characters from the original TV show including Basil, Sybil, Polly, Manuel, and The Major.

The Apollo Theatre is a medium size West End theatre with a capacity of 833 seats on four levels. Excellent views are available throughout the venue, with very limited overhang coming from the higher tiers and steep rakes throughout ensuring good visibility of the stage.
Seats in the Stalls provide excellent views throughout, even towards the rear of the seating with premium seats being found in the front centre section of either the Stalls and also the Dress Circle which provide an immersive theatrical experience.
Seats in the front row of the Grand Circle are often sold at a discount in price, and although they are situated quite high up, you have a decent view of the action from an elevated position. The best seats in this section can be found one row behind in seats B15-18, as they do not feature any restriction from the lighting equipment. Seats towards the rear of the Stalls also offer a great view of the stage on a budget and are ideal for last-minute bargain hunters.
