Full casting has been revealed for the revival of Yasmina Reza's award-winning comedy God of Carnage, which will showcase at the Lyric Hammersmith from 1st-30th September.

Freema Agyeman, who is perhaps best known for playing Trish in Dreamland and Martha Jones in Doctor Who will star as Veronique Vallon. She returns to the London stage to make her Lyric Hammersmith debut after a starring role in Apologia.

The cast will also feature Ariyon Bakare as Alain Reille, Dinita Gohil as Annette Reille, and Martin Hutson as Michel Vallon.

The creative team behind God of Carnage will feature scenic design by Lily Arnold, sound design and composition by Asaf Zohar, and lighting design by Richard Howell.

God of Carnage will be directed by Nicholai La Barrie and won Olivier and Tony Awards for 'Best Play', and also the Pulitzer Prize.

Reza's story about two sets of parents who meet after one couple's child hits the other in the playground is newly translated by Christopher Hampton, and what starts as a civil conversation about the incident devolves into cruelty and chaos.

Speaking of the upcoming revival, La Barrie commented: "We’re obsessed with the idea of social respectability, good manners, and behaving in a civilised way. But what happens when those people who declare themselves as respectable, act in the very opposite way? God of Carnage will feel like sweet revenge for audiences. You’ll recognise these characters, and you’ll revel in their carnage."
