New Cast For Fawlty Towers - The Play Announced Ahead Of West End Summer Season
Casting for the West End return of Fawlty Towers – The Play has been announced. The show will resume performances at the Apollo Theatre for a limited three-month season from 24 June – 13 September.
The show, based on three classic episodes from the hit 1970s BBC sitcom of the same name, written by John Cleese and Connie Booth, follows the fortunes of hapless, neurotic, hotelier Basil Fawlty and his wife Sybil, as they attempt to negotiate the day-to-day running of a dilapidated hotel in Torquay.
Fawlty Towers — The Play is directed by Caroline Jay Ranger and stars Danny Bayne as Basil Fawlty and Mia Austen as Sybil. Hemi Yeroham reprises his role as Manuel, Helen Lederer as Mrs Richards, Joanne Clifton as Polly, and Paul Nicholas as The Major.
John Cleese commented on the casting: “I’m thrilled with the top-class group of comedy actors we've assembled for Fawlty Towers' return to the West End stage this June. September this year marks exactly 50 years since the first ever episode was broadcast on the BBC and here we are, all these years later, still making theatres rock with laughter."
The remainder of the cast is made up of Adam Elliott as Mr. Walt, Greg Haiste as Mr. Hutchinson / Wilhelm, Dawn Buckland as Miss Gatsby, Emily Winter as Miss Tibbs, John Hasler as Günter/Mr. Thurston, Neil Stewart as Taxi Driver/ Mr. Firkins / Mr. Sharp/ Mr. Kerr, Josie Brightwell as Johanna and Liz (Hotel Guest), Matthew Gordon as Mr. Dale (Hotel Guest), Ashleigh Harvey as Debbie (Hotel Guest), Ben Jacobson as Ken (Hotel Guest), and Raymond Rose as Philip (Hotel Guest).
Fawlty Towers will embark on a UK tour from 30 September – 25 July 2026 following its West End summer season.
