Full London Casting Revealed For The Weir At The Harold Pinter Theatre

Full casting has now been revealed for Conor McPherson's play, The Weir, which will star Brendan Gleeson - making his West End debut - in the role of Jack. Performances will begin in London at the Harold Pinter Theatre on 12 September, running until 6 December.

The writer, also known for The Brightening Air and Girl from the North Country also directs a stellar cast including Owen McDonnell (Killing Eve, Bad Sisters) as Brendan, Seán McGinley (The Brightening Air, That They May Face the Rising Sun) as Jim, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor (Say Nothing, Dancing at Lughnasa) as Finbar and Kate Phillips (Wolf Hall, Peaky Blinders) as Valerie.

Conor McPherson commented, “I couldn’t be happier to be working with this brilliant cast. It’s always exciting embarking on a new production but to revisit The Weir in the company of these particularly accomplished artists feels like a singular privilege and I look forward to sharing this story with audiences in Dublin and London very soon.”

The setting for The Weir is a rural pub in the Irish countryside, where a group of local drinkers are exchanging eerie stories in their attempt to impress Dubliner Valerie - a newcomer to their village. But when Valerie shares her own haunting story with them, her revelations leave the group deeply fearful and unsettled.

The talented creative team behind the production features Mark Henderson (lighting design), Rae Smith (set and costume design), and Kevin Gleeson (sound design).
