Casting has been announced ahead of the West End return of The Upstart Crow which will run for a limited season at the Apollo Theatre from September 23rd to December 3rd, 2022.
The Upstart Crow was originally broadcast as a BBC TV series, and was commissioned to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare. The stage version of The Upstart Crow follows on from the TV show, and and follows the fortunes of Shakespeare as he tries to continue as the nation's greatest writer.
David Mitchell will reprise the role of William Shakespeare, alongside Gemma Whelan as Kate. Other notable members of the cast include Danielle Phillips as Judith, Helen Monks as Helen, Reice Weathers as Mr Whisker, Jason Callender as Aragon, and Rob Rouse as Bottom.
The remainder of the new cast will feature John Gordon Sinclair as Dr John Hall, Stewart Wright as Burbage, Gloria Onitiri as Desiree, Annabel Smith, Andrew Hodges, and Dedun Omole.
The Upstart Crow will be directed by Sean Foley and will open at the Apollo Theatre on September 23rd, 2022.
