Josie Rourke is to direct a new of William Shakespeare’s play, As You Like It which will open later this year at new London venue @sohoplace from December 6th and is due to run until January 28th, 2023.
The new production will feature the 2021 winner of 'Strictly Come Dancing' and star of TV soap opera 'Eastenders,' Rose Ayling-Ellis who will play the role of 'Celia'.
The rest of the As You Like It company will include Martha Plimpton as Jaques, Leah Harvey as Rosalind, and Alfred Enoch as Orlando. Further casting for the production will be announced in due course.
The creative team behind the new production of As You Like It will feature design from Rob Jones, music by Michael Bruce, lighting design by Howard Harrison, and sound design by John Leonard.
@sohoplace opened earlier this year with its inaugural production, Marvelous which is due to run until November 26th.
As You Like will open at on December 6th @sohoplace which is located adjacent to the site of the old Astoria theatre which was demolished due to the Crossrail development. The new venue benefits from having excellent accoustics and no restricted view sections and offers clear views of the stage from all seats in the theatre. @sohoplace is a small and intimate venue where all seats are no more than 6 rows from the stage and has a curved auditorium that connects the audience with the actors to give patrons a truly unique theatrical experience. Due to the intimate size of the theatre it is recommended to book for productions in advance rather than attempting to secure lastminute theatre tickets to avoid disappointment.
