The Boy at the Back of the Class Tickets - London
The smash-hit and joyful play, which has delighted audiences across the country, returns to London at the South Bank at Queen Elizabeth Hall. The Boy at the Back of the Class is a glorious celebration of friendship, kindness, and compassion told through the prism of a child's eyes.
A new boy named Ahmet is sitting in what used to be an empty chair at the back of the classroom. He’s a nine-year-old (like me), but a little strange. He never speaks or smiles and doesn’t even like sweets – not even my favourite lemon sherbets!
When they discover Ahmet has fled his own war-torn country to come to England, his classmates come up with ‘The Greatest Idea in the World’ – a terrific plan to attempt to reunite Ahmet with his family.
Told from the innocent perspective of a child and delicately balancing humour and heart, The Boy at the Back of the Class highlights the enormous power of friendship and courage in a scary world that sometimes doesn’t make sense, reminding us all that everyone needs a place they can call home.
A Rose Theatre and Children’s Theatre Partnership production. Adapted for the stage by Nick Ahad, based on the book by Onjali Q. Raúf, and directed by Monique Touko.
