Sinatra the Musical To Open In London In June, 2026

A new musical based on the life and career of the legendary American singer and actor Frank Sinatra will begin performances at the Aldwych Theatre in London on 3 June.

The new West End musical will feature over 20 of Sinatra's best-known hits, including "One For My Baby", "The Best Is Yet To Come", "Come Fly With Me", and "That’s Life".

Sinatra The Musical charts the journey of the then 27-year-old singer from his first performance on stage at New York’s Paramount Theatre, and the subsequent highs and lows, including his affair with screen goddess Ava Gardner and negative press attention, before making possibly the greatest comeback in show business history.

Speaking about the show, Tina Sinatra commented: "My dad used to always say, 'If I can't feel it, I can't sing it." As a result, he wasn't just singing songs; he was recording an emotional diary of his life. And it's these classic songs that form the heart of Sinatra The Musical. Set against the backdrop of my father's meteoric rise, the show reveals a more intimate portrait of the man than any interview or headline ever could. And just like my dad, it's full of music and passion and humour. I am so proud to share his story -- our story -- at long last.”

Sinatra The Musical is written by Tony Award winner Joe DiPietro (What’s New Pussycat?, Memphis the Musical) and directed and choreographed by three-time Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall (Anything Goes, Top Hat). The wider creative team includes set design by Olivier Award winner Peter McKintosh (When We Are Married, Top Hat), and the show will feature an orchestra of 17 musicians, supervised by Gareth Valentine (42nd Street, My Fair Lady).

The wider creative team will include Jonathan Deans (Sound Designer), Jon Morrell (Costume Designer), Bruno Poet (Lighting Designer), Campbell Young Associates (Wigs, Hair, and Make-up Design), David Chase (Dance Arrangements), Akhila Krishnan (Video Designer), Larry Blank and John Clayton (Orchestrators), and Ian Eisendrath (Arranger).

DiPietro also commented: "When Tina Sinatra approached me about writing a show detailing the origins of her father's genius, she gave me unprecedented access to her dad's personal story. Tina's willingness to share the trials and triumphs of her father's life has enabled Kathleen, myself and this remarkable team of theatre artists to create the most revealing portrait ever told about the legend that is Frank Sinatra."

Marshall added: "I am beyond thrilled that we are bringing to the stage the extraordinary story of how Frank Sinatra's incredible persistence in the face of adversity led to his becoming the astonishing artist that we all adore and admire. We look forward to creating an evening of theatre that is as sophisticated, stylish, and sexy as Sinatra himself!"

Casting for Sinatra The Musical is set to be announced in due course.
